Fleeting stops in Lima and Quito

We only had 24 hours in Lima, but we enjoyed our time walking around the leafy suburb of Miraflores, watching the surfers in the sea and sampling the delicacies that Peru has to offer. Upon recommendation from our friends from Peru, we went to a restaurant called Tanta for dinner, where we enjoyed delicious pisco sours, fresh fish ceviche and lomo saltado.

Time flew by and before we knew it we were back at the airport, this time flying to Quito, Ecuador. We had two days in Quito before heading to the Galapagos islands, so we used our time to catch up on some of the more basic tasks we haven't had the time to do for a while, such as wash clothes, sort through emails etc. We also took a day to explore the old town, which has a lot of character, old buildings, churches and is pleasant to wander around.

We were staying in a very lively part of the new city, so we were lucky to have an abundance of restaurants and bars around for us to sample.

The two days passed quickly and it was finally time for us to head, with great excitement, to the Galapagos.
